A past client and I have been talking about this build for over a year and it's finally starting.
I've had the car for over 2 months now, and with parts ordered and arriving, I was finally able to start on it slowly over the last few weeks. This build will take a month or so to complete....well....because I'm a 1-man army and only get a few hours each week-night to work on it....the it's weekend party-time in the shop! Here is EVERYTHING I'm doing to it: Complete Headlight Retrofit with FXR Bi-Xenon Upgrade Dummy Projector Demon Eyes Full Exterior and Interior LED Swap/Upgrade Escort Passport Full Radar Installation iPhone 6+ Integration (will run his entire audio setup as well as air-ride) iStreamer Audio Output Audio Control Matrix Plus Integration Module Arc Audio 4 channel and Mono Amplifiers Arc Audio 'Arc Series' Components Arc Audio 'Arc Series' Coaxials Arc Audio 'Arc Series' Subwoofers Full Fiberglass Rear Seat Area for the Subwoofers and Air-Ride Setup Entire Vehicle Sound Deadening via Audio Technix/CT-Sounds Accuair Air-Ride System AirLift Performance Series Air Bags Accuair eLevel Air Management System Accuair iLevel Smartphone Integration Air Zenith Uber Compressor Full Interior Swap/Upgrade/Finish Misc Fix/Repair Items Throughout Finish Rear Trunk Area So...that's about it :) Here is my first photodump of the sound deadening Client brought in his Ford F250 for an audio upgrade....here is what all went in:
JVC KW-V30BT Touchscreen Bluetooth DVD Player Arc Audio KS9006 5 Channel Amplifier Arc Audio Arc602 6.5" Coaxial Speakers Front Arc Audio Arc602 6.5" Coaxial Speakers Rear Arc Audio Arc10 10" Subwoofers Dual Custom Sealed Subwoofer Box behind rear seat This was a tight fit for EVERYTHING! The amp is a very large amp and the subs needed some room to breathe...but the client wanted as much storage room as possible....So I BARELY fit this behemoth amp under the center seat up front and the subs BARELY fit in the rear. Even though I simply replaced the OEM speakers with coaxials....this full Arc Audio system sounded VERY nice and matched perfectly with the dual 10s in the rear.....the 5 channel amp had MORE than enough power to boost everything to acceptable levels! So, a past client brought his truck back in for the 3rd time....not because anything went wrong, but because he wasn't quite satisfied with the initial output from his old subwoofer system.
Phase 1 included fully amplifying his aftermarket Alpine door speakers and adding a custom Digital Designs single 8" DD308 woofer in an OEM-style custom built box. That provided much better boom....but not enough. The goal with that built was to retain the OEM look. Phase 2 included removing the first custom box and building a better one with dual DD308 woofers.....and still attempting to retain as much OEM storage as possible. Phase 3 was a complete rebuild. This is where I originally want to be the first time, but i'm glad he finally came around to this. Fully rebuilt custom woofer box to hold two 10" Arc Audio XDi subwoofers powered by the Arc Audio KSMini 500 watt amp. This provided a TON more bass. Had a client who wanted a really good sound quality upgrade with future additional upgrades planned (amplifier, subs, etc). He found me through Hybrid Audio's website and he new basically exactly what he wanted. After a few brief discussions, we decided on Hybrid Audio's Unity Series with a new kind of kit I've wanted to try in this fast foam baffle kit.
It's a 3 part foam system what guides the Rear and Front waves where they are intended to go, as well as some rear vibration support on the door skin. The part I really liked about this kit is that the front baffle is deep enough to be trimmed to fit, but with this application, the speaker was about 1" from the door panel and this made it fit snug and tight with no sound waves bouncing around inside the door panel. Although, Hybrid makes and amazing speaker by itself, I could tell the difference this kit made....customer had a smile from ear to ear.....mission accomplished! Customer brought in her Toyota Sienna for an overhead video do-over. They bought the vehicle with an overhead previously installed and it eventually fell apart...literally.
So, we upgraded to a 10.2" unit with wireless headphones and a wired input for audio into their OEM radio. My buddy Chingy brought me his sub box he made to fit in the 'OEM' location where a sub would go in his 'slightly' new Axis wake board boat.
He made it to perfectly fit the Arc Audio Flatline 12, 12" woofer. It's a high output SQ subwoofer...so it only needs 1.0 Cu. Ft. of sealed goodness. I didn't get a before pic, but it was a standard birch box with a SHAT-TON of screws in it.....my job? Make it look puuurdy. I 100% sealed the box inside with each and every corner/joint receiving about a 1/4" of resin 45's. Then the entire internal and external surfaces were resin'd to be waterproof and leak proof. After that, a few good hours of body work were put into the face plate to make it smooth and ready to go. A 3" hole was cut out for a heater vent. Everything got 5 coats of DupliColor Bedliner with the subwoofer grill getting a nice gloss coat of White to match the boat a bit better. I installed some gnarly 1/2" Steel bolts for speaker terminals so that it's easier to install and the box stays sealed. The rest of the project will include the following Audio Components provided by Trax Customs: Arc Audio KS1200.1 Mono Block Subwoofer Amplifier Arc Audio KS300.4 4 Channel Amplifier (Tower Speakers) Arc Audio KS300.4 4 Channel Amplifier (In-Boat Speakers) Arc Audio Flatline 12 - 12" Subwoofer Arc Audio KS605 6.5" Coaxial Speakers throughout (6-8 total) WetSounds Revolution 10 Series Wake Board Tower Speakers (X2) 400 watts RMS each WetSounds 3-Zone Equalizer for full control over this beast and Mic talk-back to riders Client brought in her 2007 Toyota Sequoia for a full swap of the electrical system.
Here is what I installed: Sony XAV-701HD Multimedia DVD Player with Pandora, HD Radio, Bluetooth and much more Generic Backup Camera, mounted by towing receiver Steering Wheel Integration Module for a seamless installation Client brought in a brand new 2013 Hyundai Accent and a complete MTX subwoofer system.
Amp fit nicely out of the way under the driver seat, woofer was perfectly tucked up under the rear deck lid, with PLENTY of storage will in the trunk. Bass was very impressive for a small amp/sub combo. Busted out this quick install for a customer from up in the Sun Valley area that came all the way down for some Trax Customs assistance.
Simple install; wire up his Kenwood Mono Block Amp and he'll hook up the woofer when the custom JL box and Pioneer Premier Woofer show up in the mail. Mounted it in his hidden parcel shelf that the Dodge Magnums come with. Stealthy, out of the way, perfect what a family wagon install. Had a client come in with a Phoenix Gold Amp and a Alpine Type S Bandpass box he wanted thrown in his Accord.
He's already installed a PAC iPod adapter, so he didn't need a new deck installed.....so I simply installed a new PAC interface behind the stock deck to give me Audio Outs.....put the amp under the driver seat, which is covered nicely by the floor mat, and the sub is easily removable if trunk space is needed. Thing pounds for a 4 channel amp.......which means the customer will be back to install a good front stage speaker system down the road. Cheers! Had a customer come in with a 2001 GMC Yukon XL.
Purchased products from one of our suppliers that recommends us. Jensen Fold-Out 7" DVD Player Jensen Bluetooth Adapter Kit Jensen Aux/USB Adapter Cable Jensen Back-up Camera All in all it went great and customers were happy. Not bad for a few hour night-time install! Cheers! Had a client come in that was concerned about his stock sound system (amplified Focal speakers....if you call that stock)(owner didn't know that Focals were installed).
He's a true audiophile at heart....so Hybrid Audio Technologies is the first speaker that popped into my head. Wasn't sure about what model to go with, since it's a convertible; but the owner didn't want to install a subwoofer, so Clarus was the choice; they have a lower range of frequencies that they can play...so we squeezed the more amount of mid-bass out of them as we could. Owner had pre-selected an amazing deck, the Alpine CDA-117....truely an audiophiles headunit of choice.....more audio tweaking options that most need.....just enough for this project. The doors got a 3 layer sound deadening system (inner door skin, middle door skin, and inside door panel) to help the mid bass out as well as block some road noise. All of this was pushed by the Arc Audio KS Mini, 2 channel amp....perfect size to fit under the seat where most other amps wouldn't dream of fitting. Had a past customer come in and want his iPod and iPhone to work with his 2006 Acura TL.
iSimple made this....well....rather simple. Does everything he wanted. Cheers!!! Had a good friend of mine come in for some audio upgrades to her Jeep Liberty.
New deck with iPod, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and Auxillary input. Kenwoods lineup fit her needs perfectly. For sound, I hooked her up with a 400 watt Digital Designs 2 channel amp pushing two 12" Memphis Street Reference Subwoofers in a slot ported box. Amp is mounted under the seat so it's hidden and out of the way....and the subwoofer box can be unplugged so the full rear can be used for storage/hauling. Overall, I'm impressed with the output of the Memphis Street Reference subs and the simplistic design that the DD Audio amps have. Got the subs in tonight....so might as well.
Threw them all in and the truck is now complete....for now. Memphis 10" Power Reference Shallow Mount woofers Digital Designs CM1 1000 watt mono block amp Custom made rhino lined subbox to fit under rear seat Well, it only took us 2 months, but I've finally brought on what I think is the top company for all my mobile video products (minus in-dash DVD and Navigation options).
This company only deals with dealerships directly, so this is what would have came in your car, had you had the option...basically. Had a close friend's family bring me their 2010 Toyota Sequoia wanting some headrest DVD players. Got her my 7" Dual Headrest DVD Player options. Dual 7" Screens in factory matching leather Dual DVD players Dual Headphones Dual Everything All this hides away like it was stock, and work perfectly. Hit me up if you want to know more about this awesome brand and what they will look like in your ride! So Ryan left over the weekend...which allowed me to have the truck.
Round 1 of installs went like this: JVC DVD/Navigation/HD Radio/Bluetooth/USB Reciever Bluetooth Mic installed in Gauge Cluster (so you don't look like you are yelling at the top of your windshield) Satellite Radio installed to reciever Backup Camera installed near hitch reciever. Ryan has previously been painting EVERYTHING on his truck two-toned black (new limo black, that has some candy in it). So the middle console area was taped off and painted as well. It's only been 5 months...haahha....FINALLY found time to finish everything in this bad boy.
New Memphis 4 channel amp pushing the fronts and maybe some outside wake tower speakers down the road. New Memphis Monoblock amp pushing the Memphis 10" woofer in the custom made center console. Made a little amp rack to house everything and we're done....can't believe it took this long..... Everything bumped pretty good, even with the woofer loading off the rear wall so close. Had a buddies new Legacy GT in today....swapped from his previous ride (Chevy Cobalt).
So we're putting in all his old (if you want to call it that) gear: JVC Double Din Deck Memphis 6.5" Component Speakers up Front Arc Audio 3 channel XDi amp pushing the memphis speakers and now (2) 10" kicker comp cr woofers This build was differnet as I had to order a dash kit and HVAC unit from Japan....basically anything with JDM on it will be expensive. Reason being, the GT models have dual climate control HVAC systems that are built into the stock deck, so you cannot simply take it apart and put it back in....so a new dash piece, HVAC unit, custom wiring harness, and mirrored hazard switch were needed. Install was straight forward, bass knob in top center compartment, amp under passenger seat, besides the sub, you can't tell anything was done...unless you looked at the deck. Cheers!! So this build has been an on-going project.
Customer had a local shop do most of the work, but after many failed attempts, the system still isn't working 100%. Horrible alternator whine and another whine that's not caused by the engine. Possibly the DVD players fault, but that'll be gone here soon (why i'm turning this into a projet). Today's bill: Sound deaden the doors to the MAX and install some grounding straps to attempt to supress the noise. These doors are SOLID! Cheers Finished the box for the Honda and buttoned up the install.
Box hits nicely, amp is tucked away and stock radio now has Ipod and Aux inputs...cheers! 2007 Honda Accord in for iPod/Aux input addition as well as Amp/Sub Combo.
Got everything installed and good to go and went to put in the Radio Code (once you unplug the radio, it throws a security code) and there wasn't a code in the vehicle...so I have to wait until Tomorrow to finish up the install. I'll have more pics but basically: iPod and Aux inputs in the lower pocket Amp on top of spare tire with quick disconnects for easy removal Custom Subwoofer Box (in the making) Cheers Started Saturday morning out with a quick install.
Put an Alpine CD player in with an Alpine Power Pack. These little power packs are kind of nice. They are a hide-away unit that wires directly in-line with the headunit, so no need to add additional power wires and what not.....actually hid nicely under the aftermarket Alpine...and gave it a definite boost in highs and mids. Worth the upgrade. Lifted Sierra came back to button up some additional add-ons. Added steering wheel controls and navigation to the Clarion we put in last week. Steering wheel controls are a must if they are existing and the navigation will aid the owner when he gets down to Texas. Also replaced all the stock lights that were yellow with blue LEDs....turned out great...once again....too bright outside to get good photos. Cheers Put in a big order of decals.....company was moving locations, so it took a bit longer than expected, so they through in some extras! All of those next to our old order makes for a big lot.
Who wants one? 2 are already taken....but other than that, they are up for grabs!! |
